I’m the guy behind The Tokyo Tourist. It’s a resource site where people can get useful information about – you’ve guessed it – Tokyo! I cover everything from the big touristy stuff to the hidden gems located in the depths of Shinjuku.

Although my main focus will be Tokyo – in my opinion, the most magnificent city in the world – I also cover cities like Kyoto, Osaka, Yokohama, Nara, Hiroshima, Sapporo, and of course Japan in general. My ultimate goal is to answer all your questions about traveling to and being a tourist in Japan, and on top of that I also want to give you useful and interesting facts like 15 awesome things about Japan, if you can smoke in Tokyo and do Japanese police carry guns?

But why listen to me? I’m from Scandinavia, but I’ve been to Japan a bunch of times. I like to say I’ve done everything twice! Through my extensive travel, I’ve made a solid group of Japanese friends who’ve given me many pro tips which I love to share with you. In addition to myself, Honoka and Yuuto are also regular contributors to this site.

If I ever recommend anything, it’s only because I’ve tried it myself (i.e., a product, the Japan Rail Pass or a hotel) or if someone I know and trust has tried it and can give it two thumbs up. I also do a lot of research on every topic I write about to be sure you get accurate information from this site. I think it’s very important when you are writing about topics like Fukushima and the radiation danger.

If you want to give me some feedback or have suggestions on which topics I should write about please hit me up on contact@thetokyotourist.com. 🙂
