You know the feeling when it suddenly dawns on you that you should’ve brought X and now it’s too late? Well, I had that feeling a couple of times when I climbed Mount Fuji. I made this list, so you don’t have to forget any of these useful things! Some of the items aren’t self-explanatory, so I’ve added a small explanation. Still unclear? \nThis is to wipe away the sweat. Or the rain!<\/li>\n
\nYou need to bring your trash down with you! You don’t want it on the lose in your backpack so bring a plastic bag.<\/li>\n
\nSo you can clean your hands after using the toilet. There’s no water!<\/li>\n
\nMany people get headaches from climbing in the thin air. Bring some<\/li>\n
\nEspecially if you stay over you’d want to brush your teeth!<\/li>\n
\nThe sun is STRONG on the mountain. Read more about it in the guide<\/a>.<\/li>\n
\nIf you’re staying at a mountain hut, people will be coming and going, and some even turn the lights on in the middle of the night.<\/li>\n
\nSome people can’t help themselves from making noise.<\/li>\n
\nThis is a pro tip. You can buy them in Japan, and they’re great to put inside your jacket if you’re cold.<\/li>\n
\nTreat your butt! When climbing Mount Fuji, you have to take frequent breaks because of the thin air. Bring a seat pad so you can sit down without getting wet.<\/li>\n
\nThe light is bright among the clouds even if it’s not sunny.<\/li>\n

\nNot all toilets have paper. Enough said.<\/li>\n
\nIf you’re climbing in the dark and do not have NATURAL NIGHT VISION, you’ll need a headlamp. More in the packing list.<\/a><\/li>\n
\nBring a roll of 100 yen coins. You have to pay in cash to use the bathrooms. It costs 200 – 300 yen.<\/li>\n
\nAnother pro tip! When you reach the summit, you might want to brag to your friends about the achievement. Why not send them a postcard? Bring prestamped postcards, so you don’t have to stand in line to buy them at the post office on the summit.<\/li>\n
\nEver walked for 10 hours in hiking boots? It feels GREAT to take them on and put on some flip-flops.<\/li>\n
\nDon’t know about you, but I get a stale taste in my mouth when I hike for many hours. Bring some gum to freshen it up.<\/li>\n
\n60% av all climbers get rain. Bring a small waterproof bag (something like this zip-lock bag) to keep your phone, camera, money<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
